Each Day
Your Smile Becomes My Morning Star
Each
day your smile becomes my morning star.
I look at you and then my feelings shine.
From you I learn far more than words or numbers:
You're the book that someday will be mine.
You're the one
whose love my love of learning
Will one day trace in its ancestral line.
For all the ways you help me grow towards beauty,
I ask you please to be my Valentine.
Each Moment Is a Word of Glass
Each
moment is a word of glass;
Each life, within a bubble sealed.
No pleasure save what one has said,
No love save self in glass concealed.
How shall we gaze like
fiery stars
Upon this gallery of breath?
One says only what one is;
There is no rostrum beyond death.
Speak, then, of dancing
particles
Within the curvature of eyes,
And with equations sow the seeds
Upon which data crystallize;
While in the
forests lovers gleam
Like whispers on a moonlit stream
Everyday Suns Are Rarely Wonders
Everyday suns are rarely wonders.
In sight the secret is humility.
Gifts tend to lose connection with their sources;
Having lived can generate divorces
That isolate our selves from what we see.
Yet nothing is more native than what sunders
The action from the act.
Or plunders
What is for what is not. Or forces
Our eyes to solve what remains a mystery.
Everywhere Are Clocks
Everywhere are
clocks:
Timers turn leaves,
Tell birds to take off,
Fish to return home,
Restore desire,
Shift scenery in the night sky.
Lions and fish, crabs and virgins
Move to the music of the moon,
As we, too, dance to symphonies
Unheard. The year is a melody.
We sing our lives in harmony
With singers invisible, magical,
Fellow musicians whom we love
But do not know.
The air is alive with chimes
Which summon us to celebrations
At which we feast on tears.
